2024-04-05 00:43:42 +0000 UTC View PostI made my favorite herbal infusion today.🍃
This tea is full of vitamin and mineral rich compounds for beauty, fertility, and overall wellness ✨ It has Stinging Nettle, Red Raspberry Leaf, and Horsetail. These herbs are high in chlorophyll, amino acids, vitamins A, K, C, E, and minerals like iron, potassium, magnesium, calcium, silica, and zinc. Everyone can benefit from getting more minerals for bone and tooth health. I source my herbs from a fair-trade and organic apothecary which is so important to me! Health is wealth 🦋
Just cut down this albizia tree for my cows! They devoured all the leaves already. Albizia is a lightweight wood that grows fast and was introduced to Hawaii in certain areas specifically for cattle food. The cows eat the bark and leaves off the trees when you cut them down. It’s full of minerals and is a great supplement for them. 🌿
2024-04-01 01:05:58 +0000 UTC View PostOh hey! Didn’t see you there. 😏
Check out this new water catchment tank on the farm! The water drips out from the gutter straight into the tank. I love sustainable and easy to install building solutions. Also, I can’t believe it’s illegal to catch your own water in some states! 💦
Happy St. Patrick’s Day ☘️ want to hear some lore about the leprechauns of Hawaii? They’re called Menehune. Small humanoids who supposedly lived on the island before the native Hawaiians arrived on their canoes. 🛶 They were known for their veracious physical strength despite being of small stature, and it’s commonly known by locals that they built some of the best preserved rock walls on the islands. Their technique in building was more advanced than anything native Hawaiians do, and little is known about it. The oral history of the island told by locals is that the Menehune were befriended by natives, and showed them how to navigate the islands, then the natives turned on the Menehune and used their maps to corner them with military forces. They then took control of the Menehune and made them build rock walls. Supposedly their population dwindled to nothing, but some believe they still live in tunnels around the islands. How’s that for far out? 😂

This is local Hawaiian coffee, raw milk from my cows, and coconut sugar. 🌺 💋
Harvested some bananas! 🍌 Now we wait for them to turn yellow. Bananas are one of the only fruits that can fully ripen off the vine 🐒

Noni is a fruit in Hawaii with a lot of cultural significance. It’s one of those grandmother remedies that just makes you feel better and you don’t ask why. The traditional way of consuming it here is to put it in a sealed jar and let it ferment until it’s just black juice and pulp, and then to drink the juice. It’s super high in vitamin C! And it really does just make you feel well ✨
Went to one of my favorite black sand beaches today. These giant chunks of rock around me are all petrified lava 🔥 Hawaiian beaches never cease to take my breath away ♥️

2024-01-21 03:10:14 +0000 UTC View PostCheck out my new cabin. 🏠 I’m excited to hopefully get the internal walls finished this week! It’s fully off-grid, so the plumbing is set up for a rainwater catchment tank, then I’ll put in a solar system for power. And it has a nice view overlooking the ocean. 🌊☀️
2024-01-16 03:35:03 +0000 UTC View Post🌺 This is a yellow hibiscus from my garden. Tropical hibiscus comes in red, orange, yellow, pink, and multicolor varieties. The red variety makes a delicious, tangy tea that’s rich in antioxidants and vitamin C. 🌱
I love this yellow one because it reminds me of the sunshine. ☀️

Throwback to helping this baby cow nurse for the first time! After a cow calves, it’s essential that the baby nurses within a day or so. Sometimes the mama will get so distracted by her newfound hunger from milk production and go out to graze for hours while her baby rests nearby. So my job is just to make sure the baby gets some milk the first day. 🥛

2023-12-03 01:39:10 +0000 UTC View PostCutting up some starfruit I just got from friends. It’s officially starfruit season in Hawaii 🤩 These cute little fruits make a star shape when you cut them. I also got some tangerines and lemons from friends. One thing I love about living offgrid in Hawaii is making friends who you can share fruits with. ⭐️🍋🍊 💕
2023-11-28 23:22:48 +0000 UTC View PostJust got a coconut delivery 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼 I got stung by a wasp just as this photo was taken 😂 Did you know there are these little bugs called aphids that eat the sugar out of the coconuts, and apparently wasps like to eat them. But I’m so used to fire ant bites that the wasp sting was nothing to me. 🤪🐝
2023-11-26 01:26:28 +0000 UTC View PostI try to count my blessings everyday. There are so many things to be grateful for and remembering to practice gratitude daily can uplift and transform your life. 🌱✨ I’m so thankful to live my life surrounded by the abundance of nature’s beauty, and for all of you❤️✨
2023-11-24 03:21:47 +0000 UTC View PostCuddling with my sweet cow, Ginger 🤍 She’s big now, but I remember when she was a little golden red calf. I have so many funny stories of her, and I can’t forget all the times she broke out of her pasture and I had to chase her around barefoot for hours trying to trick her into going back in, and luring her with treats. 🍌🌱 She’s so sweet and is one of my favorite cows ever.

2023-11-20 05:59:01 +0000 UTC View PostWearing my new bamboo yoga pants. 🎋 Sustainability is so important to me. Did you know that the majority of “fast fashion” clothing ends up in a landfill? Materials like polyester, nylon, and spandex are derived from petroleum, the same thing plastic is made from! 🤢
What’s so bad about that? Wellll, as you wear the clothing, tiny particles rub into your skin and get absorbed into your body. These materials are known to be major endocrine disrupters, and overtime can cause cancer and infertility. They also leach into our water supply every time they get washed, causing trillions of micro plastics to be recycled into our public waterways. I’m the happiest investing in quality pieces of clothing made of natural materials like bamboo, silk, organic cotton, and wool. 🐏
Harvesting some papayas. I have to use this big stick to reach them! Papayas have so many health benefits, like enzymes that help with digestion, and their seeds which are a natural parasite remedy. They’re one of the easiest fruits to grow because they fruit within 3 years of planting. 🌿
