It seems like instead of snow, Mother nature is emptying her entire bladder all over us today! Heck, by the end of the day, we might not even have any snow left. It's kind of funny as only 1.5 hours away from where I live, they are currently being covered with a substantial white coat of snow. While we are on the snow subject, let's head back to our Lake Louise / Banff story. On my second day, I went on a snowshoeing expedition in the mountain. It was so much fun. Did you know that the snow I was walking on was up to 6 feet deep (2 meters)? Without snowshoes, forget it, you're drowning! We followed the pathways, to begin with, and get used to the snowshoes. The last time I had done any was back in high school, back around when I was 15 or so. It was pretty easy. The fun part starts when you get out of the pathways and go full-on gonzo style. We got down the mountain through the forest. We had no idea where we were heading, but that's a good thing about mountains, if you go down, you go in the right direction! Funny side story (once again). One of the guys thought that snowshoeing would be a walk in the park. On his FIRST step, he put the feet on a frozen fallen tree. He fell to the ground and, have you ever laid in 6 feet of snow, slowly drowning in it? The more you fight through it like a moron without technique, the more you drown. OMG, it was hilarious. The guide told him to turn around to help himself as his snowshoes were facing uphill. Facing downhill would be way easier. Instead of turning this way, he turned from his back to his belly LOL, so he was face down in the snow, swearing and yelling at the snow. After 10 minutes, he was able to get up, and he spent the next 10 minutes saying, "I fucking hate snowshoeing" while going down the mountain! LOL This was an enjoyable activity. I had one or two many drinks the night before, so I ended up sweating my hangover. What a real Canadian I am! Haha! I'm still not done sharing stories about this marvelous landscape.
