Added 2021-01-15 01:30:28 +0000 UTC* You can read older posts if you want to catch up on this adventure* On my second morning in Lake Louise, I trekked through Johnson Canyon to a world of frozen waterfalls and pillars of blue ice. If you ever decide to go through this adventure, make sure you have ice cleats and bring some coffee and snacks once you reach the Upper Falls. You can probably feel the tranquil beauty in the pictures I've posted. The sweeping panoramas and soaring peaks can't be beaten! I was lucky that day, it wasn't that cold, and it was an enjoyable morning. We left around 7 in the morning and had to drive 30 minutes to get there. Side story. Once we left on that hike, one member of our group was, how could I say that... she had the body shape of Frosty the Snowman. There's nothing wrong with this, but maybe an Ice trek that goes from a lower fall to an upper fall (that means a LOT of climbing with the ice cleats!) wasn't the best idea for a vacation. Anyhow, halfway through, we had to abandon her as she couldn't keep going. Her hubby, an ex-professional soccer player, just left her there and said, "goodbye, honey. I'll see you later," LOL! How romantic! Anyhow, about 90 minutes later or more likely 2 hours later, we get back to where we had left her. She starts telling the guide how excited she was to ski for the first time tomorrow. Guide: So, you've never skied? Her: No, but how hard can it be? Guide: You couldn't do this hike, you might want to try a skiing beginners class first. Her: I'll be okay. It's just going down a hill, it can't be that bad. Guide: I don't think you know how gravity works, uh? * cricket sounds * Oh god, I can only imagine the spectacle it must have been if she indeed ended up going! LOL
