I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the silver coat I had in junior high. Now that thing was bright ass SHINY metallic silver. It could blind you. It was phenomenal. It was one of those puffer coats. Actually, it was reversible but the other side was just regular ass plain white. Looked like the marshmallow man, but I wasn’t interested in that look. Boring. My grandpa got me this coat at the most expensive department store at the mall. It was $150!!!! He always got me the best gifts. This one was a Christmas gift & I got to pick it out. For Christmas & then again on my birthday, would give me $1000 to spend on each of his credit cards he had at the three major department stores in the mall. YES, THAT’S WHY I’M LIKE THIS. 💁🏼‍♀️ So, I was hype af to show off this this amazing show stopping coat at school when Christmas break was over. But you guessed it… I was made fun of soooo hard. 😔 Students were asking me if I went to space over Christmas break & everything. My heart was shattered into a million pieces. How could this coat be so amazing to me & so lame to others? Of course my grandma said they were “just jealous”. But that’s literally what she blames everything on… However, she’s not usually wrong. But in this case, I don’t think that was it. So, there I was, walking down the school halls & people would be throwing shit at me, including wadded up pieces of paper with spit on them. People laughed hilariously every time I got on or off the bus in my dope ass coat. Honestly, I was so bullied in school up to a point & I never really talk about it. I probably have blocked it out for a long time… But, ANYWAY SOMETHING GOT ME THINKING ABOUT THIS SPACE MAN COAT LATELY!!! 🤔 Let me tell you that I did not let any of this detour me from wearing this bad ass puffer coat. I wore that coat until it literally was busted from wear. Which was only a season… But still, I wore it out. The teasing finally subsided & people didn’t care anymore after about a month. But every time I went ANYWHERE besides school people would GO OFF about how awesome that coat was… So I never understood what made it so funny at school? Anyway, I’m tryna relive 7th grade. My birthday in in less than a month & I put two shiny silver puffer coats on my Amazon wishlist. Of course I want the MOST EXPENSIVE one cause it’s definitely the dopest. But the other one is more like the one I had in Jr. High. But let’s be honest, I want both of them. 😅 https://www.amazon.com/hz/wis… The moral of my story however is to WEAR THAT COAT, BETCH! If you love it that’s all that matters. If doing what you’re doing right now makes you happy & it ain’t hurting anyone else, LIVE THAT DREAM. You don’t have to answer ANY questions that you don’t want to. Stop worrying about what others think of you. DO YOU. You’ll be so glad you did. If you stop caring, people will stop talking shit. And if they don’t? Hey, fuck ‘em. Wear the coat.
